Obituary of Norman Ray Mitchell, Belfast, Maine, d. 20 Mar 1908


Norman Ray, the little son of Charlie A. and Myrtle V. Mitchell of Belfast, died March 20th of cerebro spinal meningitis.  He was sick only a few days.  All that loving hands could do was done, but was to no avail.  The funeral was at the parents' home Sunday, March 22nd, at 1 p.m.  Rev. D. L. Wilson, pastor of the North Congregational Church, spoke words of comfort to the bereaved family and friends.  He leaves to mourn the loss of their darling baby, the father and mother; two grandmothers, Mrs. W. A. Ryan of Knox, Mrs. J. Brown of Caribou; two grandfathers, Mr. U. S. Mitchell of Belfast and Mr. W. A. Ryan of East Knox; one great-grandmother, Mrs. Rachel Ryan of Belfast.  The flowers were many and beautiful.  Among them were a bouquet of pinks from Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Mitchell; pinks, Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Ryan; pillow, with words "Our Darling", Mr. U. S. Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hirsch, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mitchell of Monroe and Miss Gertrude Ryan; bouquet of daisies, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Gordon, Mrs. Rachel Ryan, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph H. Page; bouquet, Mrs. A. C. Littlefield; assorted flowers from the ladies of Poor's Mills.  The bearers were Israel Woodbury and Hugh Simmons of Morrill, Merle Whitcomb and Fred Peavey of Belfast.  The interment will be in Morrill cemetery, Morrill, Maine.  "Our little one from us has gone, the voice we loved is still.  A place is vacant in our home that never can be filled."
