Circa 1900 Photo of Callie Lindsay, Cape Girardeau, Missouri; married Stephen Bank Jr.

Circa 1900 photograph of Callie Lindsay; taken by E. C. Woody Studio, Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

From searching online, I find that Callie, or Calley as she is variously listed, was born about in November  1879, the daughter of John C. Lindsay and his wife Martha Elizabeth (Scism) Lindsay of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  From the Censuses, I've determined that John was born about 1848 in Missouri, and Martha was born in 1853, also in Missouri.

There's a Missouri marriage record showing that Callie J. Lindsay married Stephen Bank, Jr., in 1898.   She and her husband appear in the 1900 Census for Cape Girardeau with son John, born 1898 or 1899.  Then I lose track of Callie.  I fear she may have died sometime previous to 1905 when another Missouri marriage record shows the marriage between Stephen and Helena Kaiser.

In the 1910 Census, Stephen is living with his wife Helena and children: John, b. about 1899, Callie's son; Ralph, born about 1900, apparently after the 1900 Census enumeration, and Callie's son, I imagine; Clara, born about 1901, and Callie's daughter, I imagine; and Walter, born about 1908, and apparently the son of Stephen and Helena.

Stephen Bank, Jr. is the son of Stephen Bank who was born in Baden - Germany, I assume.  I'm not sure if his mother was Catherine, shown in the 1870 Census, or Barbara, shown in the 1880 Census.

It's disheartening how so many children lost their parents back in the day; bad enough the other way around.

If you have any insights into the families of Callie Lindsay or Stephen Bank, I would very much appreciate hearing from you.  Thanks for stopping by!
