Theodore Wyman established a general mercantile store at Sebec, Maine, on beautiful Sebec Lake in Piscataquis County, in 1832 or 1833, in partnership with J. W. Jewett.  When that partnership dissolved, he joined with William P. Lamson in a similar enterprise.  For a few years, he operated the business by himself, but in 1874 formed T. Wyman  & Son, with his son Theodore Heywood Wyman.

Theodore Wyman was born 25 January 1810 in Bloomfield, Somerset County, Maine, the son of Abraham and Betsey McLellan (Heywood) Wyman.  He was educated at Bloomfield Academy and moved to Sebec to establish his business about 1832.  In 1842, he married Caroline D. Ford, who was born 10 October 1822 in Sebec, the daughter of Abner and Mehitable (Hatch) Ford.

Theodore and Caroline (Ford) Wyman had the following children:

  • George Theodore Wyman, b. 10 May 1845 at Sebec, Maine; d. 4 May 1846 at Sebec, Maine
