Group Photo in front of North Barnstead, New Hampshire Church; Rev. and Mrs. John George and private school students

1800s photograph of Reverend John George and wife Myra (Whitney) George flanking students at the private school they ran; posed in front of the North Barnstead, New Hampshire Church.

Faint handwriting on reverse and imprint of the photographer, A. W. Shackford, Farmington, New Hampshire.

The handwriting reads: Private School of Mr. George taken in front of No. Barnstead Church.  Mrs. George on right and Mr. George on the left.

From online research, hopefully correct:

John George was born 19 Dec 1847, or possible 1846, at Warner, New Hampshire, the son of Charles and Margaret A. (Warren) George.  His paternal grandparents were Daniel and Mary (Bean) George.  I haven't yet been able to find the parents of Margaret A. (Warren) George, or if Warren is indeed her maiden name.

John George married Myra A. Whitney, who was born 22 August 1857, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Hale) Whitney.  Her paternal grandparents were Jeremiah and Mary Polly (Wiggin) Whitney.  I haven't yet found the parents of Anna (Hale) Whitney, or if Hale is indeed her maiden name.

Reverend John and Myra A. (Whitney) George had a son, Edward J. George, born in December of 1862 in Barnstead, New Hampshire.  He married Anna Eliza Hayes in 1889.

Reverend John George died 10 March 1924 in Barnstead, New Hampshire.  Myra A. (Whitney) George died 1 May 1936, also in Barnstead.
