Florello Lorenzo Knapp married Mary Payette in 1889 in Dolgeville, New York. I haven't yet determined her parents or if Payette was her maiden name. Florello Lorenzo Knapp died 25 September 1913 in Dolgeville, New York.
REV F. L. KNAPP DEAD
Former Oswego Clergyman Died in Little Falls Hospital
People of all denominations in this city will regret to learn of the death of the Rev. Florello L. Knapp, formerly pastor of the Trinity Methodist church, which occurred in Little Falls late Thursday evening. Mr. Knapp left here last spring to take pastorate in Dolgeville. Mr. Knapp was taken ill early in the week with appendicitis and an immediate operation was deemed necessary. He rallied well from the operation and his speedy recovery seemed assured when he took a sudden turn for the worse and died within a few hours.
Mr. Knapp was forty-six years old and was born in Oneida County. Entering the Methodist ministry in 1887 at South Canton he since that time has had charges at Chasm Falls, Waddington, East Hamilton, St. Johnsville, Carthage, Camden, Oswego and Dolgeville in the order named.
He is survived by his wife, one son, Burge of Washington, D.C., and two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Anderson of Washington and Miss Ruth Knapp of Dolgeville.
In several places online, I found references to his marriage and death at Dodgeville, Wisconsin. However, I believe these references are in error and that the correct place is Dolgeville, New York. I don't know which newspaper this obituary was in, but it was obviously a paper located somewhere in Oneida County, New York.
The obituary was pasted onto a page with a few other clippings. One was a column on "Don'ts for Wives", by Reverend W. W. Bustard, Rockefeller's pastor of the Euclid Avenue Baptist Church, Cleveland. Another, very much obscured and damaged, had what appears to be a listing of ship disasters, name of vessel, whether the cause was collision, fire, foundering, run on pier, etc., date of disaster and the number of deaths. In the case of the [Danish ocean liner SS] Norge, the death toll appears to be 750, but the death toll listed on a reference online is 635 - horrendous enough.
