Vintage Blotter from Campaign of Adelbert R. Sargent for Hancock County, Maine, Treasurer

Vintage memento blotter, perhaps from the 1960s, from the campaign of Adelbert Roger Sargent, for the office of Hancock County, Maine, Treasurer.

From online research, hopefully correct:

Adelbert Roger Sargent was born 10 May 1913 at Ellsworth, Maine, the son of Ralph Leslie Sargent and wife Nora Louise (Fletcher) Sargent, born in Gouldsboro, Maine, and Plantation #8, Maine, respectively.

Adelbert married at least twice: 1) Virginia Alice Carlisle, daughter of Myron Ruthvin Carlisle and Bessie A. (Cunningham) Carlisle; 2) Isabelle Helene Blaney, daughter of Robert N. and Harriet (Lakin) Blaney.

In the 1960s, and perhaps earlier, Adelbert Roger Sargent was the caretaker of some camps at Harrington Lake, located in Piscataquis County near the Debsconeag Lakes.   He was also involved in his brother Raymond's construction company, which was repairing a dam at Chamberlain Lake for the Bangor Hydro-Electric Company.

On 28 October 1966, he and Raymond made several stops on lakes in the area.   They were attempting a landing at Harrington Lake, when the plane went under, and the Sargent brothers were killed.  One person, Donald Grindle, survived.

If you have any corrections or insights regarding the Sargent, Carlisle or Blaney families, please leave a comment.
