Photo of Lucy Cox Driving Carriage in Parade, Woodland, Baileyville, Maine

Vintage photograph of a woman identified on reverse as Lucy Cox driving in the Labor Day parade at Woodland village in Woodland, Baileyville, Maine.

The photograph itself measures approximately 6-1/2" x 4-3/4".  With its mat, it's approximately 10" x 8".  There's no photographer's imprint.

From online research, hopefully correct:  [corrections welcome]

After first ruling out the town of Woodland, Maine in Aroostook County, I searched for a Lucy Cox in Washington County at Baileyville, Maine, whose town center is known as Woodland.  And here I found a Lucy Cox married to William Cox, Jr.

Lucy L. (Parent) Cox was born about 1879 at Millville, New Brunswick, the daughter of Edward J. and Mary (Kitchen) Parent, who were born at Queensbury, New Brunswick, and Fredericton, New Brunswick, respectively.

Lucy was first married to Urijah Russell and had at least one child with him, a son, J. Gordon Russell.  They can be found in the 1901 Census of Southampton, New Brunswick.

I wonder if Urijah was the Urijah Russell living at Detroit, Michigan with son James at the time of the 1930 Census.  He indicated he was divorced.

Lucy married William Cox, Jr., on 25 February 1914 at Baileyville, Maine, so the photograph dates from Labor Day 1914 or after.

William was born 20 December 1881 at Baileyville, Maine, the son of William and Bridget Ann (Ryan) Cox.

If you have any additional information on Lucy Parent, Urijah Russell or William Cox, please leave a comment or contact me directly.
