Tintype of Solomon LeVasseur of Grand Isle and Fort Fairfield, Maine

Tintype of a handsome young man I believe to be Solomon LeVasseur, who was born 23 May 1857 at Grand Isle, Maine, son of Isiah or Isaie LeVasseur and Phelonise "Floria" Hudon Beaulieu LeVasseur, originally of St. Basile, New Brunswick.

He was identified on the reverse as Solomon Vassar, which may have been how he was known just to the person who penned the identification or perhaps to the larger public.  The person from whom I bought the tintype said that the sitter was from Fort Fairfield, Maine.

Solomon LeVasseur married Lucille Augustine J. Dube or Dubay about 1876.  They farmed at Fort Fairfield and raised, at least, one daughter, Agnes, and three sons Edward, Theodore, Simon and William.

If you have more information on Solomon LeVasseur or his wife Lucille Augustine J. Dube/Dubay, or if you feel the young man is a different person, please leave a comment.
